Facebook VP of Product Management, Adam Mosseri made it known yesterday

Facebook VP of Product Management, Adam Mosseri made it known yesterday that the site’s algorithm will be tweaked so that stuffs from friends and family you care about shows up first in your News Feed. This action was taken due to recent complaints from users that they are constantly missing important updates from their friends.

Facebook
The news was received with mixed reactions, especially from various publishers and major news outlet whose larger chunk of traffic comes from Facebook. With this new development, users will see less official pages content on their news feed, except publishers pay for them to be placed in your feed. For those who rely on Facebook for their news update, things are about to change.
Considering the feedback which shows that, apart from showing posts from the people they care about, users are also concerned with entertainment and information, posts from friends that you “like” most will land at the top of your news feed. Using the already available See First, Unfollow, and Hide options on friends’ posts will  enable Facebook tailor your news feed.
Facebook admitted that the News Feed is far from being perfect in a blog post, stating that there will be improvement in the nearest future.
