Nigerian networks have an annoying habit of sending you unsolicited messages
almost every minute. Some even don’t care if you’re trying to
sleep, sending you messages at 3:00 am in the middle of the night. This
has been going on for a while and it has become a major nuisance.
NCC has taken action and issued a directive to telecommunications companies to give subscribers an easy way to unsubscribe from these messages.
When activated, Do Not Disturb (DND) lets you stop receiving messages from these networks by sending STOP TO 2422. Still, a lot of Nigerians do not know about this.
I stumbled upon a recorded phone call between an Airtel customer support staff and an angry customer. The hilarious conversion starts with the customer asking Airtel support where he could get a bag of rice in Awka for ₦15,000.

The conversation took a dramatic turn when the angry customer goes on
to rant about how Airtel disturbs him with similar unnecessary calls
and messages. While the Airtel staff tried to explain to him how to
unsubscribe, the customer goes on to vow to remove Airtel SIM card from
his phone.
